From the Blaca cove, climb your way up to the amazing Monastery founded by Glagolitic monks escaping the Turkish invasion. Here they developed a successful base for wine production and trade.     What you will experience

    Go through the old manuscripts and naval maps, as witnesses of the site’s cultural past. Look through the telescope in one of the most important historical observatories in the country. Maybe you will also be amazed by the collection of arms or the old printing press. Be aware that here was one of the most important observatories in Croatia, which cooperated even with the observatory in Greenwich, London.


    Imagine travelling through past when you enter the intact historical buildings of Stari Grad. You can only appreciate the amazing work the Greeks left behind when they divided the Stari Grad Plain, making it a beautiful example of the way their genius touched the land.

    Useful Tips before Tour

    • Find out how they managed to bring a piano into the Monastery
    • When looking through the telescope, be aware that one of the most famous Croatian astronomers and the last guardian of the Monastery, Nikola Miličević, owned it
    • Examine the incunabuli (the first printings of books) in Stari Grad, since they are considered some of the most important books in history
    • Say “Živili” (Cheers) when trying some of the rakija (brandy) and imprint this excursion in your memory forever
